Barbeque Apron - Have Fun With A Barbeque Apron

To some, if you do not have all the correct tools (serrated-edge spatula, 2-prong fork, basting brush, and toothed tongs), your barbeque setup is just not complete. Another item that will help create a great cooking atmosphere is an apron. This may seem to be a small, obvious item. But and apron is functional and, if you find the right one, can be a lot of fun. It also lets others know that you are a real cook. Before you decide that you don't need one, take a look at the ways an apron can help with your cooking.

Clean Up your Act!

One of the most obvious ways that using an apron can help is to keep your clothes clean. With a good apron, you will not be wearing your sauce thru the rest of your event. A good way to mess up a nice meal with the family and/or friends is to be creating your special barbeque sauce while wearing that nice white shirt only to have it splash all over you. With a good apron, this will not be a concern. You can cook anything you want while wearing (or not) anything that you wish without the fear of getting dirty.

Express Your Passion

Another neat thing about a good cooking apron is that you can express your real passions. Aprons can be purchased that help bring out the real you. If you look around, you can find an apron that will show what you really enjoy. You can find aprons that will show your heat (hot peppers and salsa), your loves (dogs, cats, wine), your (dare I say it) favorite sports team (from little league to professional). You can find just about anything that you enjoy plastered on the front of an apron. But, if you cannot find just the right one, you can create your own.

Bring Out Your Inspiration

Some say that putting on work clothes get you ready for being productive while you are at the office. Along that same line, putting on a good cooking apron can help put you in the right frame of mind to be creative at the barbeque grill. Athletes "get into the zone" thru listening to their music and strenuous workouts. You can get into the "grilling zone" by putting on your best (or most appropriate) apron.

Where to Get Them

Just like any type of shopping, you will need to go to a shop that carry barbeque wares. I have seen aprons in many different stores, Wal-Mart, Bed Bath and Beyond, and Target. You can also find them in of the "tourist trap" shops at some of the vacation spots that you visit.

And if you travel the internet much, you will be able to find just about any type of barbeque apron that you desire. You can find them made out of most materials, covered with almost any slogan and/or picture you need. And there are many sites that will allow you to be extra creative and design your own.

The bottom line is that a good cooking apron can be functional and help around the barbeque grill. It can also be very creative and fun and help you have a good time in the kitchen. You spend a lot of time there, so, it should be fun and give you some enjoyment.

Enjoy BBQ Beef All Year Long

Beef and barbeque go hand in hand when it comes to summer grilling. No matter if you are grilling steak, burgers or beef dogs, there is nothing like barbecued beef. The taste and texture can compare to nothing else.

Even in the winter you can get that barbeque taste into your beef by using a slow cooker. You will find lots of info on how to do this on the internet if your cravings get too much for you next winter.

Here is a great way to enjoy beef dogs that both child and child at heart will relish. Its a proven hit with everyone year after year.

Get your beef dogs and slice them from top to bottom. Make the cut about half way deep and fill the dogs with thin slices of cheese. As an alternative you can fill them with minced onion although a lot of children do not like the taste of onions. Wrap a strip of bacon around your dogs and you are ready to go. Place them either on your grill or in the oven. You will know when your dog is done because the cheese will ooze out of them. Put them on buns and you have a great treat that will please kids, both big and small.

There are certain protocols that you must use when you are barbequing raw meat. Every year, thousands of people succumb to illnesses that come from bacteria on raw meat. It is very important that you follow the guidelines of grilling meat to avoid these illnesses.

A tip to remember is never to put your barbeque sauce on raw meat because the sauce will seal the meat and the flavor of the barbeque will not be able to absorb. Also, when you brush the sauce on, you will pass any bacteria that might be on a piece of meat to any others you brush after that.

Avid and competition grillers believe that by applying a dry rub to meat before it is grilled gives it the best flavor. Other grillers apply liquid smoke to meats such as beef brisket to give it an incredible flavor. Onions, celery and salt are also commonly used on this type of meat to create a succulent flavor that all will enjoy.

Many grillers heat their sauce and then apply it to the beef when it has been cooking for a while. By doing this you can eliminate some of the time it takes for the meat to reach the required temperature.

When the barbeque beef is done, it should sit for about ten to fifteen minutes to allow it to finish cooking and cool down. This not only makes cutting the meat easier, it also seals in the juices of the meat. Any juices that are left over can be simmered and reduced to make gravy for open-faced sandwiches.

Selecting The Right Barbeque Rotisserie

Do you frequently grill your dinner? If the answer is yes then you are likely aware of some of the advantages of using a barbeque rotisserie. A rotisserie is great at turning your food at just the right speed, to give you even cooking through the entire piece. This results in better taste, and a more moist meal without any extra work on your part. Now how is that for convenient?

Do you own a relatively new barbeque grill, either charcoal or gas? If so you can easily find a rotisserie designed specifically for it. There are many 'universal' rotisseries that are made to work with standard size grills. You should first get the inside dimensions of your grill, then compare that with the size of the rotisserie to make sure it is compatible. Try to find the biggest one that will safely fit, allowing room to close the cover all the way. Some rotisseries can hold 2 or more large pieces of meat, which is extra handy if you entertain any number of guests in your backyard. Just make sure you follow the recommended instructions for securing the food before you begin, taking into account the fact that meat will shrink as it is cooked.

Should you have a barbeque smoker, or use your standard grill for smoking your food then a rotisserie will be a big help. You will be able to evenly smoke all parts of the meat by adjusting the speed to your liking. Most people use smoking techniques because of the enhanced flavor and a rotisserie will help. You'll be rewarded with more flavor in each bite because every part of the food has been exposed to the smoke.

Research And Read Rotisserie Reviews Before Buying

Check out the specs on each model and read what others are saying. You want one that is durable, has varying speeds, and is easy to clean up. Alot of the popular rotisseries will fit these requirements, but also do other things. There also is quite a difference in price between some models. Look around online to find deals where you get some other barbeque accessories thrown in as well. You don't need to spend alot of money to find the right rotisserie, but you do need to look around a bit. And should you be buying a new grill then try to find one that has a rotiserie already included. This can be a big money saver over purchasing the rotisserie later on.

You will soon find out that your rotisserie will be a big hit with your guests. Grilling your food will be more rewarding to all, but not require any additional effort on your part. Find the right barbeque sauce, use smoking if desired, and enjoy your meal.

BBQ Myths Getting You Down?

If you're cooking your food properly on your barbeque, you're getting delightful results every time. However, all too frequently, people are falling victims to very common barbeque myths. It's not because we're gullible or stupid in any way. Many barbeque myths are so well known and so wide spread that they are more frequently passed on as truth than they are as the myths that they truly are.

For example, many people love to try to get perfect grill lines on their barbequed foods. Either straight lines, or the more fancy criss-crossed ones are often accepted as a sure sign of the expert barbeque chef. What this involves is flipping your meat, so that the lines are on the both sides. However, many people don't ever get to achieve this art form because they have fallen victim to one of the main barbeque myths. They believe that flipping or poking your grilled food makes it tough – this is a myth. In fact, flipping your meat not only creates great grill lines, but it also makes certain that you cook more evenly.

While you read up on the swath of information available for providing tips and tricks for the best results on your barbeque, make sure that your source is reliable. While some of this information is very helpful, much of it can be exaggerated or based on what the author “thinks” rather than what is actually known.

The belief that poking or flipping your food will let all of the juices out and make it tough would only work if your food was shaped exactly like a balloon – which it isn't. Meat is made up of hundreds of small cells, each filled with its own moisture and juices. Should you poke your meat with a fork while it's on the grill, you may pop one or two cells, but it won't let all of the juices out…only that of the cells you've punctured. Certainly, if you repeatedly stab and puncture your meat, many of the cells will be broken, and you'll lose a great deal of your juices, but other than in a horror movie, there really isn't any reason to treat your meat that way.

Similarly, flipping your meat doesn't let a great deal of the juices out either. After all, flipping doesn't puncture any of the cells, so as long as you don't flip it and smack it hard, then you won't lose much by the way of juices at all. Be gentle…it's already dead!

The problem with flipping your meat on the grill lies when cooks use their spatulas and other tools to squish the meat after it has been flipped, often trying to squeeze out the grease. By flattening the cells in the meat, much of the moisture and juices are pushed out, leaving the meat dry.

So flip those burgers and poke that steak! Get those grill lines just the way you want them. Your food will always be good and juicy, just like the pros do it.

Low Carb Barbeque Sauce

Is there such a thing as low carb bbq sauce recipes? The answer is yes! You can enjoy all that barbequing has to offer with several different low carb barbecue recipes.

The main item in BBQ sauce that causes the high carb levels is of course sugar, so you should look for recipes that do not have any sugar or substitute the sugar with a substitute like Splenda. You can make your sauces sweet if you like, but not all barbeque sauces have to sweet to be delectable.

Try this one on. You will need:

1 minced onion,
1 small can of tomato sauce,
2 cups of water,
¼ cup of apple cider vinegar (one with no sugar),
¼ cup of Worcestershire sauce or soy sauce, paprika,
chili powder,
cinnamon,
cloves,
salt and pepper all to taste.

Place all of the ingredients in a medium saucepan and bring to a boil. Then lower the heat and simmer for around 15 minutes. All done and you have a low carb barbeque sauce that everyone at your dinner party is sure to love.Of course you can adjust if you are serving seafood, beef, pork, chicken or plain hamburgers.

For any barbacue sauce you will need some type of tomato product such as tomato sauce, ketchup, or a combination of tomato puree and tomatoes. Then all the other ingredients are pretty much taste.

You can add onions, green pepper, red pepper, jalapeno peppers, orange juice, pineapple juice, Worcestershire sauce, soy sauce or anything else to enhance the flavor and aroma of your barbeque sauce. But, to keep it low in carbs stay away from sugar or any items that have sugar added. Some ketchup’s have sugar added, so be sure to read the label before you purchase the items to prepare your BBQ sauce.

Enjoy your low carb cookout!

Barbeque Safety Tips

When considering barbeque safety, there are several things to consider.

1. The Location Of The Grill

Be careful to choose a spot that is away from trees, brush and other overhanging structures. Imagine a flare up. Will your roof catch fire? Locate the grill well away from all flammables.

Choose a spot that is away from the main traffic flow patterns. You do not want the football game to accidently back up into your grill. Ruining your dinner and possibly burning someone or something. It would also be a good idea to be located near a garden hose.

2. Using Proper Utensils

Grill safety includes using the proper utensils to avoid burning. The barbeque utensils that you see in stores are longer than kitchen tools for a reason. You want to be able to reach into the fire, if needed, without getting burned. You will be safe if you use the proper utensils.

3. Dress Properly For The Grill

This seems a bit crazy, but it is important. You need to be sure that you are not wearing anything that is too loose or that might somehow find its way into the fire. Also, I recommend closed toe shoes. I know you wouldn't drop any of that precious barbeque, but just to be safe. . .

4. Follow Proper Lighting Procedures

Follow your manufacturers instructions for lighting your grill. Never pour lighter fluid or other flammables onto a lit grill, even if it appears not to have caught. I know you've heard this before, but confess -- I bet you've tried it. It is definitely not safe, so don't do it again!

I hope that these tips will be helpful to you. Enjoy a safe and tasty barbequing season.
